This post is part of a series that I am creating which go over Configurations as they relate to Microsoft Dynamics 365.
The Administration Settings of Microsoft Dynamics 365 is a place where we can perform many Customizations. Currently, there are 11 options that can be selected under Administration.
Announcements | Managing Announcements of the company |
Auto-Numbering | Manage how Entities are assigned unique numbers |
System Settings | Formatting for numbers, the calendar, and currency |
Languages | Support multiple languages on your Dynamics 365 instance |
Subscription Management | A process that, when opted in, allows customers to choose which emails they would like to receive from you |
System Notifications | Allows you to view system messages |
Resources in Use | Displays your organizations use of storage, Custom Entities, Workflows and Dialogs |
Yammer Configuration | Allows collaboration with Yammer. Once you enable Yammer, it cannot be disabled |
Data Performance | Allows a view where you can Review, Analyze, and optimize data access |
Microsoft Social Engagement | Allows collaboration with Microsoft Social Engagement |
System Settings
System Settings are a very important part of Administrative Settings because there is so much packed into one place. It is too hard to go into detail on every tab, but I’ll go over a couple and then let you go through the rest of them in your own research.
General tab
The general tab has skype for business, name formats, currency symbols, and auto save preferences in it. That is a lot for just one tab to have.
Formats
Formats allow us to select the default formats for many things including time of day, short dates, and long dates.
Auto-Numbering
Auto numbering allows you to decide what the format is for the Entities that are enabled for Auto-Numbering. There are currently 9 Entities that are enabled for Auto-Nimbering out of the box. These Entities include Contracts, Cases, Quotes, Orders, Invoices, Campaigns, Articles, Categories, and Knowledge Articles.
The definitions are based from the Microsoft Dynamics 365 website. I encourage you to look at them. These documents are helpful when you want to learn more in depth on any subject.
